When rhetorical analysis is used for analyzing the media, one can learn many things and different ideas can be explored. Using these analytical approaches can open up one's eyes to a whole new world of looking at the things we see and overlook everyday. There are many ways to use rhetorical analysis on different medias or art such as in a song one may notice the tone of voice but in a physical piece of art of video, one may observe the different colors, focal points, or symbols throughout the images. Music video's may be harder to analyze because of how the music may be connected to the images in a special way, so without one or the other, the observations will be limited. The same can be said for songs; if the words to a song are hard to understand or hear, it would be difficult to analyze that song without reading the lyrics. However, when analyzing a picture or another piece of physical art, it would be relatively easy to identify the different components of the piece that make up various symbols, meanings, or messages.
By using rhetorical analysis on different types of objects, we are able to see the world not only for what it is on the outside, but for what its deeper meanings are. It isn't necessarily intellectual thinking, but logical and thinking with reason and understanding. This is what the world really needs because most of the time, we are caught judging every book but its cover and not looking inside or past what is put in front of us.

ReplyDeleteI agree that it may be hard sometimes to see what the videos or songs are trying to get us too see because there could be an even deeper meaning that is intended only for some people to understand: implicit.
