Disscussing Rhetorical Analysis
When analyzing music videos and pieces of art there are certain different analytical approaches to each one. With art you only focus on one image alone and view the color. Then you might look at expressions of the face or how the camera angle is. But with video it seems harder to me because it combines all that with sound and movement. Now that we have sound added we have too look at the lyrics and see what they mean. We might see how the speeds of all the lyrics are going or how it is said. Now that we have movement of the image we have to analyze body posture. We have too look at how people are dressed and how they act to get the message the author is trying to send to us. Overall it might be a harder process than analyzing images. I know when we saw the music video I had most of the points down. Then after I had the lyrics in my hand with audio and video it was just a bigger experience. But the difficulty level might also is depend on what media you do compare. When analyzing different types of objects using rhetorical analysis you learn you learn there are certain things you need to look out for in any media form.

I agree that videos are a little bit harder to analyze because it is motion and there so much going on in a video versus a text.
ReplyDeleteI see what you're saying about videos being harder to analyze when they're in motion but then i think their is such an abundance of information that even if you don't get the whole meaning you will still get the most of the meaning from the song
ReplyDeleteYes, analyzing a video is more complex. It can be helpful, if you feel overwhelmed with the amount of information, to organize it into repeated concepts/themes.
