Rhetorical Analysis Blog
When analyzing media, i believe the process is the same as when you are reading various types of texts. It is just in a different way you are viewing it. When watching a music video, it differs from reading because you can actually see what is being talked about. When you read, you have to imagine what is being talked about. To me seeing a music video and trying to analyze the rhetoric is easier because you get to see and hear the text (if you have the lyrics with it). It may be harder because some people may like reading and using their imagination. Some things we can learn about rhetorical analysis by using it on different types of objects is how to analyze in different ways and seeing rhetoric in different forms.

I agree with you when you say its easier to analyze a music video rather than literature. I think it helps the viewer get a clearer message from the artist/author.
ReplyDeleteYes, the room for interpretation in literature can sometimes be greater than with a song, since you don't have an accompanying text by the writer telling you what the meaning is.
